LDS Missionaries Turn to Technology

The LDS Church has now adopted the new world of technology 100%. Now even missionaries, who have been prevented from even touching technology previously while serving missions, are now being given iPads and Smartphones to make technology part of every-day missionary work. First the LDS Church has begun rolling out iPads to missionaries in the United States. North Carolina was one of the first to receive them. Initial missionaries weren’t given much instruction on how to use them in missionary work. Only some guidelines and then were left to their own creativity to connect with members and non-members alike to drive demand to hear the missionary discussions. Using Online Church Meetings

We’re seeing more and more of it all the time. People are forgetting the conceept of getting everyone together in a Church building, and doing online Church meetings instead. Welcome to the new world! Stake leader meetings, Ward leader meetings, youth leader meetings, almost everywhere we see members of the Church conducting online meetings. We’re not talking about Sacrament meetings, Sunday School and such. We’re talking about leadership meetings, Presidency meetings, High Council meetings, etc. etc. etc. There are a handful of services that offer this ability that Church Members can utilize. 1) Citrix GoToMeeting (also GoToWebinar, GoToMyPC, GoToTraining, GoToAssist) Citrix offeres plenty of services that handle online meetings of ANY sort, and they do it VERY well. Using Trello for Your Church Callings

Trello is a project management type of application. It’s FREE, and it can be of great use in your business, Church or personal life. Here we show a couple of ways to use it so you can get a visual of how you might use it in your responsibilities. Trello consists of “Boards”, “Lists” and “Cards”.  A Board is like a board on the wall that will help you keep track of things that need to be done. A board is typically used as a “Role” or specific world of responsibilities you have. For example, here we show you a Board called “Stake Presidency” where the Stake Presidency keeps track of all their stuff to do. On that board...

Ward Tools

Ward Tools – DISCONTINUED Ward Tools WAS a Free app for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Palm devices which imports the exported MLS files from the Ward or Stake computer. Because of this, it has more information about members than LDS Tools, iStake or MyLDS Stake apps. This includes Temple Recommend status and other things. The main drawback is that you must re-export/import the MLS file to get updates. The LDS Church asked Ward Tools creators to discontinue it’s use (obviously for data security reasons since this is a recent theme for the Chruch). Their website now displays the following message. http://www.wardtools.org/ SCORE: 8 out of 10! RECOMMENDED: Even though it’s more tedious to have to manually convert MLS data and...
